Canada: British Airways will temporarily suspend flights between Calgary and London’s Heathrow Airport

Twelve years after they were launched, British Airways winter flights between Calgary and London's Heathrow Airport will be "temporarily suspended" later this year, CBC News has learned.  "We regularly review our schedule to ensure that we are flying to destinations popular with our customers during the months they wish to fly," a spokesperson wrote in an email response on Tuesday. "As such, British Airways will be temporarily suspending flights between Calgary and London over the winter period. We will rebook passengers on to alternative flights or offer them a full refund."

The airline introduced the service in December 2006, at the time offering five flights a week.  The last flight before the winter suspension will be Oct. 27.
